by Little Children

(we used to feel) Higher. Somewhere in the depths of Little Childrens ”f.f” echoes a feeling of defeat. A sorrow that is consistent but doesn’t take over your life. A sorrow that forces you to make use of every desperate moment and let the tears fall until they’ve dried into salt.

Little Children’s musical nutrition is basically the whole modern history of pop. He doesn’t let any genre be left unexplored or any rock left unturned and on his new album ”f.f” it’s more obvious than ever. Here you’ll hear echoes of his youth, superstars such as Dire Straits, Chris Rea, Bryan Adams and Bob Dylan. Linus tells us that he’s wanted to catch the feeling of how his mother every Friday would turn on Bruce Springsteen and dance the ”mom dance” in their kitchen in Skutskär. A celebration that the weekend was finally here. And the freedom. But none of the inspiration in his work escapes the transformation of finally turning into Little Childrens distinct own sound.  Because whether Little Children makes your feet move, like on the first single ”Every Little Light”, or reveals his inner feelings in hymns like ”(we used to feel) Higher” and ”By the moonlight” you’ll be struck of how his artistry has finally been perfected with this album. It’s an album born out of a crisis. He lost his faith in everything: love, humanity and life itself for a while. He decided to quit his job after 9 years in the same place and leave the comfort of security to focus on what he really believes in and loves to do. After a few months out of work and lots of long walks with a lot of time over for thinking he experienced a sort of awakening and could finally put words to his feelings. The strikingly beautiful melodies and the fateful lyrics on ”f.f” binds together the subtle grooves and finely tuned guitars into pop songs of a quality that you rarely see anymore. The multi-instrumentalist Andreas Söderström and the producer Måns Lundberg’s contribution has been crucial for the albums shifting, soul-baring, yet classical, sound. Thanks to the collaboration Little Children has been able to lean back and focus entirely on writing the songs – from the darker chapters such as ”There’s a darkness” to the more uplifting melodies. Little Childrens ”f.f” contains all the ingredients that characterizes a future classic: heartfeltness, clearness and energy – but primarily the passion that can make hearts melt and bones break.
”f.f” is an ending of sorrows and defeats and a journey that hasn’t been finished yet: the dreams are yet to be fulfilled and the memories are still strong.
But there is no turning back now.
